Meditate

Phillipians 4:8 NKJV Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are noble, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is anything praiseworthy—meditate on these things.

I based my whole book series on this verse. I recognized that our minds can easily drift to negative places. We naturally focus on what’s going wrong instead of what’s going right. We allow ourselves to panic. We think the worst and even prepare for it, but what if we allowed ourselves to meditate on the word of God? What if we meditated on his promises? What if we meditated on our God-given victories? What if we cleared our minds and thought about what brings us joy? What if we thought about what makes us smile? What if we thought about all our blessings? If you find yourself struggling with anxiety, maybe you should meditate.

No Limit

No_Limit_Sign_medium.jpg

I grew up listening to Master P and singing No Limit Soldiers. Percy Miller was a tangible rags to riches fairytale. The older I get the more I believe that limitations are mental. I never thought I live to see a Black president nor a Black woman marrying a British royal. Anything is possible. We create our own limitations. We speak defeat in our lives. We doubt ourselves and our abilities. In the words of Israel Houghton, "take the limits off." Live your life with no limits.

Accept

"God grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change, the courage to change the things I can, and the wisdom to know the difference."- Reinhold Niebuhr

I've always loved the simplicity of the serenity prayer. I've struggled with accepting the things I cannot change. I've struggled with not being in control. I've struggled with my will versus God's will. Sometimes, what I've wanted has superseded what I needed and resulted in very difficult lessons. My prayer is that I accept that which I cannot control and that which I cannot change. I trust God. My peace comes from God. It is the peace of God that allows me to accept and rest in his promises. It is the peace of God that allows me to accept.

Kinetic

Qkkwp1506949459.jpg

Kinetic energy is the energy an object has because of its motion. The world is in constant motion. There are many unforeseen forces at play like gravity and electromagnetism. Gravity is what pulls you down toward the Earth's center. Electromagnetism holds the atoms of matter together. We should all be moving forward to achieve our goals. However, we need to be aware of what keeps us grounded. Ask yourself what pulls you down? What forces are working with you? What forces are working against you? Take inventory of your pros and cons. Evaluate your life and count the real cost. The cost to achieve your goals may mean less time for family and friends for a season. In the long term, is that sacrifice worth it? Finally, ask what holds you together? Is it your faith? Is it your family? Is it your career? Whether you recognize it or not, you are moving towards something. Make sure that you are being deliberate in all of your actions. Don't waste your energy  on frivolous things.
