Woke
Being woke is nothing new. It's just a new term for an old movement. There have always been anecdotes about slumber. My generation warned each other about "sleeping." The generation before warned that "the revolution would not be televised." Knowledge never comes to those who are not informed, nor does not come to those who do not seek it. We must be diligent in our pursuit to know and do more. The information is out there, and it is more accessible than ever. Woke is more than a movement. It is a choice. #dontsleep
Epiphany
What happens when you realize you deserve more? What will you do when you accept that you were created for more? Who will you become when you recognize you were destined for greatness? Will you stay on that job you hate? Will you leave that toxic relationship? Will you try that thing you always wanted to do, but was too afraid to try? Will you not just knock on the door of opportunity, but actually walk through it? You deserve it. You were created for more. You are destined for greatness. Now, is the time. This is your epiphany. You know better. So, do better. Overcome your fears. Step out. Do it! No more excuses.
Influence
There are a lot of things that influence our lives. Technology, religion, politics, economics, music, and media are all ways our lives are influenced daily. Our news feed on Facebook dictates what we are exposed to in our social circles. Our cell phone notifications alert us to new emails and direct messages. Before we get out of bed, we are already media saturated. Not to mention, the radio programming we listen to during our morning commute, or the billboards we see on the way to work. We are unconsciously being manipulated. We have brand aversions created by subliminal marketing. All these things leave an impression on us. We must be mindful of what we allow to influence us. We must deliberate in what and whom we allow in our sphere of influence.
Intuition
Steve Jobs once said that intuition is more powerful than intellect. Yet, we value intellect more than our innate ability to discern. Webster's dictionary defines intuition as the power or faculty of attaining direct knowledge or cognition without evident rational thought and inference. In other words, intuition is that gut feeling you try to ignore or rationalize. Trust your gut! Go with your first mind. Don't ignore the signs. We've all heard these phrases. They are all different ways to encourage you to trust your inner voice. Listen closely. There is wisdom in that small still voice. Trust your intuition!
"Intuition is seeing with the soul." -Dean Koontz
Revelation
rev·e·la·tion ˌ revəˈlāSH(ə)n/ noun
a surprising and previously unknown fact, especially one that is made known in a dramatic way.
the divine or supernatural disclosure to humans of something relating to human existence or the world.
Oprah Winfrey has popularized "Aha! Moments." There is a whole section of her website that is dedicated to these moments. If you are unfamiliar with "Aha! Moments," they are considered a moment of insight or discovery. I would refer them to revelations. Have you ever experienced a revelation about your life or a loved one? Did God reveal something to you? Do you ever just have a gut feeling about something? It's revelation. I knew that I was going to marry my husband within months of dating him. I listened to the voice. I didn't say anything or move on that notion. I waited patiently for that word to manifest. It did three years later. Be patient. Pay attention. Listen closely. Trust your instincts. Trust the revelation.
