Time to Renew

time_to_renew.jpg

It’s that time of year again. License and insurance renewals notices are being sent. Taxes are being calculated. Fees are being paid. Even the bible acknowledge that there is a season for everything. The end of the year for me is like tying up loose ends. It’s the time of year that I reflect on my accomplishments and my failures. This year is a bit different. This year made the world pause and pivot. This year was about change and doing things differently. This year is a reminder that we all still have room to grow and change for the better. It’s time to start over.. It’s time to rethink some things. It's time to renew.

Reign

20200918_102517.jpg

Reign is both a noun and a verb. It can refer to a period of time or the actual function that occurs during a certain period of time. We are supposed to reign in our lives. We are supposed to have lordship and function in that matter, but we don’t always behave in this way. We let fear reign. We let doubt reign. We let finances reign. We let every negative thing reign. If you find yourself in the midst of a storm, let God reign. Let peace reign. Let faith reign. Let joy reign.

What's Your Legacy?

One of my financial goals is to build generational wealth. This is a foreign concept to many who have grown up living under the poverty line, or simply to those who live check to check. It always amazes me that people come from all over the world to find the "American Dream," but many Americans fail to achieve this dream. We do not educate ourselves financially. We do not insure ourselves properly, and we leave a legacy of spiritual, emotional, and financial debt. How do we rectify this? We can implement financial curriculum into the school systems. We can educate ourselves on how the rich build generational wealth through life insurance and other investments. We can teach our kids about credit and how to manage money. We can make a conscience decision to leave a legacy that benefits our children's children.

Carpe Diem

'Tis the season of resolutions, affirmations, and vision boards. The end of the year is a time filled with reflection, regret, and hope. I challenge you to let hope fill your heart, your mind, and your soul. "Rebellions are built on hope."- Jyn Erso, Rogue One. Many of you know I am an avid Star Wars fan. So, I couldn't let this quote slip from my literary grasp. The events of Rogue One take place before the original 1977 Star Wars: A New Hope. Why is this relevant to a blog post about hope? Rebellions are the breeding ground for hope. They usher in the spirit of change in hopeless environments.  Aleppo has become a hopeless place for its residents. America has become a hopeless place for some of its residents. The sound of rebellion is ringing from every snowcapped mountain in Colorado to the molehills of Mississippi, and we must heed its call. Carpe Diem! Seize the day.
