Reach
I had a conversation with a good friend of mine and came to the conclusion that we are “reachers.” We are initiators. We are helpers. We are the people who will call and send text messages. We are the people who will inquire about your well-being regardless of ours. During times like these, we need reachers and we need to be reachers. Today, take the time to do a wellness check. Check-in on your family. Check-in on your friends. Make sure that they are okay. We are all going through some things. We are all being challenged in ways we never knew. Reach out!
Peace
I have learned that peace does not come without work. It does not come without struggle. It does not come without planning. Peace requires a decision to be made, and action to be taken. You have to claim your peace. You have to declare peace in your life and your family. Peace is your portion. Peace is your gift. Peace is a blessing.
Psalm 29:11 The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.
Help Me
“Help Me!” I don’t know why these two words are so hard for many of us to say. I can admit that I usually ask for help after I’m frustrated. I feel overwhelmed. I struggle with saying these two words, but I have learned that I’m not Superwoman. I can’t do it all. I need help. Most of us do, and it’s okay. You can’t be in two places at once despite being pulled in multiple directions. You can’t rearrange everything. Something’s gotta give. Don’t wait until it’s too late. Open your mouth. Use your words and say, “help me!”

Genesis 4: 10 And he said, What hast thou done? the voice of thy brother's blood crieth unto me from the ground.
In light of recent events, I was reminded of the story of Cane and Abel. Long story short, Cane killed his brother out of jealousy. While it seems hard to fathom, what would cause someone to kill another human being in cold blood? We live in a day and age where murder and genocide are all too common. Our churches are not safe. Holy ground is not sacred. Domestic terrorism is real. I can't help but think that but by the grace of God that could have been my church, my cousin's mosque, or my co-worker's synagogue. As people of faith, we must recognize that there must be some sort of atonement. Just as Abel's blood cried out, so does the victim's of America's violent past and present. Can you hear their cries? What can we do to help prevent these senseless tragedies? Is it gun control? Is it acknowledging mental health? Is it recognizing domestic terrorism? Sound the alarm. Hear the yelp, and ask what hast thou done?
