Outgrown
Kids outgrow shoes and clothes faster than you can buy them. People outgrow relationships. People outgrow circumstances. People outgrow things. It can be hard to navigate when you outgrow people you hold dear. It’s not like someone has hurt you or wronged you, but you are in a different place, a different mindset. If you remain, you will stunt your own growth. Unfortunately for those who have not matured, they might not see it that way, and that’s okay. You can always choose to love and support from afar. Don’t let people and relationships hinder you from where you know you belong. Accept that you’ve outgrown that relationship, but you still love the person. You are making a conscious decision to put you first.
Fellowship
As an only child, I always wanted to be around other kids. I wanted to go outside to play. I wanted company. I wanted sleep-overs. I wanted to be socialized. On the flip side, I enjoyed being alone. I enjoyed not having to share. I liked the solitude. I didn’t like that when things went wrong, there was no one to share the blame. I didn’t like that there wasn’t anyone to share the household responsibilities. Relationships balanced out my life. Friends taught me to share. My husband taught me how to be selfless. My kids taught me how to sacrifice. Relationships teach us how to love one another. Relationships teach us how to fellowship with God.
Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 (NIV) Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their labor: If either of them falls down, one can help the other up.
Thank You
Gratitude. Appreciation. Encouragement. Two words can go a long way. Two words can influence. Two words can make all the difference. Two words can bring a sense of humanity to any exchange. Thank you. Thank God. Thank People. Thank each other. Acknowledge your appreciation for someone's efforts. Thank you for your support. Thank you for your input. Thank you for being who you are in my life. Don't take these two words for granted.
Great
Today is my 36th birthday, and I can admit that 36 does not look the way I thought it would. In my mind, I thought I would have done more, been more, have more. It's amazing how we can be so critical of ourselves. The truth is I do have more. I am happily married to a man I adore. I have two beautiful daughters. I quit a job I hated. I am happy. I have more love, more peace, more time, more freedom, and more joy. Today is a great day because I am not defined by my accomplishments. I am discovering that who I am is defined by the more I have yet to become. There's more. 36 is good, but 37 will be great. Here's to greatness....
"There are two great days in a person's life, the day we are born and the day we discover why." -William Barclay
