Eclipsed

The total solar eclipse has been all over the news for weeks. Stores have sold out of solar viewers for weeks. It's a big deal. Whether you plan to stream, watch, or project the eclipse, be reminded of the things in your life that have been eclipsed. Have you had a difficult month? Have you had an unexpected problem occur in your life? Has life just been a bit more trying than usual? Then maybe, you should take this opportunity to focus on what's going right. Count your blessings. Let positive thinking eclipse your circumstances. Let love eclipse your pain. Let joy eclipse your sorrow. This is a time to reflect on something bigger than you.

Planted

The process of being planted and being buried are very similar, but have completely different purposes. You plant something that has the ability to live, while you bury something that has died. Both require being put in the ground and covered with dirt. However, the end result is quite different. How can you determine if you are being planted or buried? You are still alive. There is still life in you. There is still purpose in you. There is still the ability to produce. You are being planted. Though it may seem alone and dark, these are the optimal conditions for your growth. This is what you need to produce what's inside of you. The better question is what kind of seed are you? When this process is over what will you produce?

Purpose

pur·pose

noun

  1. the reason for which something is done or created or for which something exists.

  2. have as one's intention or objective.

What is the reason you exist? If you died today, what would the world miss? What were you created for? What's your purpose? You were created for a reason, an objective. Your life has direction and meaning. There is a plan. Maybe you were created to love. Maybe you were created to dance or sing. Maybe you are a gifted architect or designer. You were given gifts that are uniquely yours. Maybe it's the gift of gab. What are you good at? Are you athletically inclined? Your talents can help you identify your purpose. Live life knowing you are here for a reason. Live intentionally. Live on purpose.

"My purpose is far greater than my pain." -Foxy Brown
"I got a greater purpose. God put something in my heart to get across, and that's what I'm going to focus on, using my voice as an instrument and doing what needs to be done."- Kendrick Lamar

Healthy

What the Health is a documentary that has sparked a lot of conversation in my circle. Without providing too many spoilers, it does suggest transitioning to a plant based diet. There are several articles that debunk some of the statistics in the documentary. However, the overall message is that you should be mindful of what you are consuming. What are you consuming physically? What are you eating? What are you consuming mentally? What are you thinking? What are you consuming spiritually? Is your spirit healthy? Stress and depression both have physical affects on your body. Mental health is just as important as physical health. The journey to healthy living is tri-fold. What changes can you make to ensure that you are healthy?

Manifest

As a child, I loved hearing creation stories. I was amazed at how much detail was put into our existence. There is so much beauty to admire, from the stars in the sky to the hidden treasures we continue to discover. Life is a beautiful journey of self-discovery. Everyday, we have the ability to create. Everyday, we make choices that manifest our destiny. We possess the power of creation. We have the ability to change our mind and our circumstances with a word. We can use words that empower us or words that hinder us. We can deny our greatness or we can embrace it. We can manifest our hidden treasures or we can keep them buried. We were all created with a purpose in mind. Manifest your purpose. Manifest your destiny. Manifest your dreams. Speak life.

Unexpected

Things don't always go the way we think they should. Sometimes things don't work out in our favor. We win some, and we definitely lose some. Life has an ebb and flow. Some of the best things that have happened in my life occurred when I least expected them. I found my infamous bachelorette pad, when my mother announced I would be moving out. I met my husband after a bad breakup. The list goes on and on. I've learned to appreciate the unexpected. Life's little surprises can be bittersweet, but sometimes they point us in the right direction. The unexpected jolts us. It gets our adrenaline running. It keeps us on our toes, and helps us appreciate when life goes right. It reminds us that we should expect the unexpected.

Heartstrings

Have you ever watched a movie that made you cry? Have you ever been brought to tears because of someone's words? Have you ever been so choked up because of a kind gesture? We live in a world that has desensitized us to the most basic human emotions. We villainize victims. We are calloused, because we can't afford to be weak. We are numb to the injustices that should be pulling at our heartstrings. It's ok to feel, that's what makes us human.
