Objective
When we are revamping our resumes or job hunting, we do so on purpose. We have an objective. We have a goal. We have a purpose. We are deliberate. We should always have an objective in every area of our life. We fast with a goal in mind. We pray with a purpose. We should speak and live in the same manner. Be objective and have an objective for this year.
Honour
Exodus 20:12 “Honor your father and your mother, so that you may live long in the land the Lord your God is giving you.
I grew up listening to my mother quoting this scripture to me. I often find myself telling my own children the same thing. I realize that through my daily actions of being my mother’s caretaker that I am literally walking her words out. I am living them. I am a walking, talking, example of what this verse looks like daily. It doesn’t mean I don’’t get frustrated. It doesn’t mean I don’t have my moments. It means that I am present. I am doing the work. So, whether I am tired or not…I still have work to do. There are eyes on me. There are eyes on you, too. Do the work. Honor your loved ones. Honor your ancestors. Honor their lives and their memories.
More
We’ve all heard that God will never put more on you than you can bear. If I could be perfectly honest, sometimes I’m astonished at how much I can bear. There have been times, I have just wanted to quit. I’ve wanted to breakdown and cry, but I had to push through. I didn't realize my own strength. I didn't see a way out. I didn’t see the other side, but God. If you feel overwhelmed, know that God knows how much you can bear. God knows what he’s trying to produce. God knows how much “more” you can handle.
Love Covers
1 Peter 4:8-And above all things have fervent charity among yourselves: for charity shall cover the multitude of sins.
This was yesterday's daily scripture. I started to think about divorce rates and came to the conclusion that we have been conditioned to quit. We don’t forgive. We don't give second chances. We quit. We get mad. We feel wronged, and we quit. Our love is circumstantial instead of unconditional. Our love is conditional. Our marriages are not based on devotion, but mutual convenience. We don't let love cover. We don’t love. We “like” strongly. Maybe we need to revisit the book of Peter to get a better understanding of the power of love. Real love covers.
Opportunity Knocks
Most of us are prepared when opportunity knocks. I've always heard people say, "you don't have to get ready if you stay ready." If we are actively preparing ourselves for what's next, we welcome opportunities to grow and improve ourselves. What if you find yourself unprepared? You've got to start somewhere. Chalk it up as a missed opportunity and learn from your mistakes. What can you do today to better yourself? Take a class. Learn that new language. Update your resume. Do something. Prepare. Opportunity is knocking.
